Safeco Field, Seattle, WA - Sept 11, 2011
Safeco Field had pretty much just standard offerings. There was one stand that had made to order Bratwurst with grilled vegetables that looked very appealing. This was a good dog - nothing spectacular, but good tasting with great toppings and a perfectly steamed bun.
Coors Field, Denver, CO - Sept 6, 2011
I had a couple of good choices - one being a foot long bratwurst that looked very good. I instead chose a Spicy Buffalo Cheddar Bratwurst from the Blue Moon Smokehouse. This dog came smothered with grilled onions and sauerkraut. The sausage had pretty good flavor and a nice consistency - very much like a traditional bratwurst.
Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, MO - Sept 4, 2011
The stadium had a couple of stands called the Dugout Dog House. They sold several types of loaded hot dogs in either a 6 inch or a foot long. I chose the foot long All-Star BBQ Dog. The hot dog was a nice sized grilled hot dog with very good flavor. It was then loaded with barbecued shredded pork, coleslaw, pickles, and barbecue sauce. Another outstanding dog!!
Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO - Sept 2, 2011
Pretty good offerings at Busch Stadium - the usual Brats, Hot Dogs, Italians. There was a cart that had bacon wrapped hotdogs. I had one called the St. Louis Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog. This was a long, fat bacon wrapped hot dog loaded with baked beans, pickles, sauerkraut, crispy onions, and a couple types of sauce. This was an outstanding offering. The bacon wrapped dog was great and mixtures of all the different flavors worked perfectly together.
Miller Park, Milwaukee, WI - Aug 30, 2011
I wanted to attempt to have one each of the five sausages that are featured in the Brewer's Racing Sausages - Hot Dog, Bratwurst, Polish, Italian, and Chorizo. I skipped the Hot Dog, but did have one each of the other four sausages. They are all good, not great. My order of preference is the Chorizo, Bratwurst, Italian, and then the Polish. All of the sausages come pre-wrapped waiting in the warming trays, which tends to make the buns a little soft.

Chorizo and Polish |
Target Field, Minneapolis, MN - Aug 27, 2011
There was a specialty sausage stand, Kramarczuk's, that had Bratwurst and Polish. I chose the Polish Sausage that came loaded with grilled sauerkraut and onions. The bun was a little large and dry for the size of the dog, but the sausage and toppings were excellent.
Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL - Aug 22, 2011
I was leaning towards a traditional Chicago Style Dog, but I instead opted for a Footlong Buffalo Style Hot Dog. This was available in either a traditional hot dog or a bison dog. I chose just the normal dog. The dog came topped with a tasty, creamy coleslaw with a drizzle of spicy buffalo wing sauce. The toppings were somewhat skimpy for the size of the dog, but the bun was perfect and the flavors went extremely well together.
US Cellular Field (Comiskey Park) - Aug 21, 2011
We had club level seats that had food options not available throughout the rest of the park including some very nice looking footlong brats and hot dogs that were huge and some gourmet chicken sausages. I chose the Footlong Polish Sausage that is the same sausage offered throughout the park. This polish was quite tasty and came topped with grilled onions and a pickle.
PNC Park, Pittsburgh, PA - Aug 19, 2011
Overall there are very good food selections at PNC Park, including Manny's BBQ (operated by former Pirate's catcher Manny Sanguillen), a Primanti Bros stand, and a Quaker Steak 'n Lube, that all had huge lines all game. The sausage selections were somewhat basic, however, and I chose the Foot Long Hot Dog. This was a long, fat grilled hot dog that came topped with grilled peppers and onions. Good dog, good toppings, and good bun, but nothing spectacular.
Nationals Stadium, Washington DC - Aug 17, 2011
Great selection of dogs at Nationals Stadium. They had nice looking Italian's both hot and sweet, bratwurst, and kielbasa among other offerings. They had a stand that had interesting looking smothered dogs, including one topped with mac'n'cheese with crushed Fritos chips and a 'Nacho' covered dog. I chose a Ben's Original Half Smoke, "All the Way" from the Ben's Chili Bowl stand. This was a tasty smoked then grilled spicy Italian type sausage that was covered with nacho cheese, chili, and onions on a perfectly sized bun.
Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, MD - Aug 14, 2011
There are many specialty food stands at Camden Yards, but not too many hot dog/sausage selections. Along with the traditional ballpark dogs, there was a Polock Johnny's Sausage stand. I had a Polock Johnny's Sausage covered with spicy sauce and crispy onion straws. This was the first Polish sausage I have had. Overall this was a very good dog. The sausage was tasty and the spicy sauce had great flavor but not overpowering. Other than the sausage being slightly small for the price, this was a very good dog.
Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, PA - Aug 13, 2011
Overall there was an incredible variety of food selections available, but a somewhat limited sausage selection. I chose another Italian that was served with grilled peppers and onions. There were green, red, and yellow peppers and the peppers and onion mixture was perfectly grilled. The sausage also had a great flavor, not too sweet or spicy, and it was served on a perfect sized bun. Definitely one of the better Italian's I have had.
Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY - Aug 9, 2011
The food selections at Yankee Stadium were basically the same as Citi Field (Nathan's Hot Dogs and Premio Sausage). I chose the Footlong Nathan Dog with sauerkraut. The Nathan Dogs are quite tasty for simple dogs and they are served on perfectly sized soft, steamed buns.
Citi Field, Flushing Meadows, NY - Aug 7, 2011
At Citi Field they have both Nathan's Hot Dogs and Premio Sausages. The condiment stand at Citi field was the best I have seen. It included a couple different kinds of mustard and they also stocked hot sauerkraut and hot tomato stewed onions. I chose the Spicy Italian from the Premio stand. The sausage was served loaded with peppers and onions and I added spicy mustard. The flavor of the hot Italian was outstanding. The hoagie roll that it was served on was a little large and hard for my preferences, but this was still a great ballpark dog.
Fenway Park, Boston, MA - Aug 5, 2011
There was a decent selection of food available at Fenway, but I decided on the classic Fenway Frank. It is a average size skinless hot dog from a local company, Kayem, that is boiled, and then served on bread that is somewhat a cross between a bun and a thick slice of bread. These dogs are reasonably priced, $5, and are the size that you can easily eat more than one. These dogs are quite tasty and perfectly suited for a baseball game.
Simple but delicious |
Rogers Centre, Toronto, ON - July 29, 2011
There was a surprisingly nice food selection at Rogers Center. I found something that they called the Foot Long Home Run Dog. This was a large foot long hot dog topped with maple beans, bacon (Canadian), and shredded cheddar cheese. This hot dog was outstanding, definitely one of the better ones I have had. The hot dog would have been very good plain, but with the combination of the sweet maple beans, Canadian Bacon and cheese on top of a perfect tasting sausage, this made a nearly perfect ballpark food.
Comerica Park, Detroit, MI - July 28, 2011
I didn't see too many offerings. There were basic hot dogs, bratwurst, and Italian sausages. They had a couple of stands that had Winters Cheese Sausage. This sounded like the most interesting and appealing choice, so I gave it a try. It turned out to be just an average size sausage, served plain. They had mustard, relish, and condiments available, but I just added mustard. This was just an average dog - good, but nothing special.
Progressive Field, Cleveland, OH - July 26, 2011
There were two stands in the main concourse that had "Grand" sausages that were served with either grilled vegetables (peppers and onions) or sauerkraut. The choices were either a large, long hot dog, a bratwurst, or an Italian. I once again chose the Italian with the peppers and onions. Cleveland is also known for their stadium mustard, which is spicy brown Dijon mustard. I added a good portion of the stadium mustard to the large Italian Sausage. The peppers, onions, and the stadium mustard on the sausage with the perfectly sized steamed bun ,made this truly a 'Grand' sausage that I enjoyed very much.
They seemed to have a nice selection of dogs at the generic concession booths throughout the stadium. I was curious about one called the Big Red Smokey. I asked a couple of workers what kind of sausage this was and no one seemed to know, so I decided to try something else. At one booth in the large open area outside the concourse we noticed someone with a Meat Lovers Dog. It was a hot dog covered with chili, cheese, and grilled sliced salami. This looked very good to someone who loves meat and hot dogs. The toppings on the dog were outstanding, but the dog itself was just a very average tasting, bland hot dog. Had they put a little more effort in the the sausage, this could have been terrific, but I enjoyed the dog none the less due to the outstanding toppings.
Turner Field - Atlanta, GA - July 17, 2011
There was a good selection of dogs/sausages in the main concourse, but after we went to the club level where are seats were located, there were a wide variety of food choices, but limited hot dog choices. I saw a brisket sandwich from the barbecue stand that included two sides. I ordered the brisket sandwich with mac'n cheese and roasted pecans. It was a fantastic sandwich and the side choices were great. The macaroni and cheese was very good (so good in fact we ordered another side dish to take back to our seats) and the pecan side dish seemed very 'Georgia.' I would never think of serving a big portion of pecans as a side dish, but it was actually quite good. On the way back to our seats I also ordered a Jumbo Hot Dog, just to keep consistent with the hot dog from every stadium theme. This foot long jumbo dog was good - nothing special, but the brisket sandwich made up for any shortcoming.
Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, FL - July 15, 2011
There were many more food selections available at Tropicana Field than I remember since we were last there 10 years ago. There were several hot dog varieties available and a couple sausages. I chose an Italian Sausage with peppers and onions - the same thing I ordered a few day previously in Miami. This offering was better than the Miami dog - a much tastier sausage. So if you want an Italian Sausage at a Florida stadium, you're better off going to Tampa!
Sun Life Stadium, Miami, FL - July 10, 2011
Concession choices were very limited. Attendance is normally low, but especially low for afternoon games due to the heat. I had a Italian Sausage with peppers and onions. This was the first Italian that I have had so far. The sausage was tasty - just the right amount of spice. Overall this was a good sausage - perfect sized, soft bun and the peppers and onions enhanced the flavor of the well spiced Italian sausage.
Rangers Park at Arlington - July 6, 2011
There were $1.00 hot dogs available at this game and I had thought about just having one or two of these dollar dogs, but I found a stand that sold Nolan Ryan hot dogs and smoked sausages that I decided to try. There was also a few stands from the Food Network that had some interesting choices, but I ordered a Smoked Nolan Ryan Sausage that was served with grilled onions. I added some barbecue sauce since the stand was right next to the Sweet Baby Rays BBQ concession. I had thought that this was just some random sausage that just given the Nolan Ryan name, but it turns out that there is a Nolan Ryan brand of hot dog and smoke sausages. The sausage I had was the regular all beef smoked sausage. There is also a spicy sausage in this Nolan Ryan brand, but that was not available at the game. The sausage itself had outstanding flavor, even Tina enjoyed her bite. The bun was good, but a little too large for the sausage, and I should have added mustard instead of the BBQ sauce, but overall this was a good dog.
Minute Maid Park, Houston - July 2, 2011
The concessions in Houston were quite good. Even the generic stands had good offerings. There were several stands that served gourmet topped dogs, one being a dog called Texas "Most Wanted" Dog, that was smothered with chopped brisket, which looked very good. It was a tough call but the sandwich I chose was from the 'Astros Sizzling Grille'. They served Kiolbassa brand sausages. I ordered something called the Texas 5 Alarm Chili dog. It was a spicy kielbasa sausage, covered with very spicy chili and a pepper jack cheese. This was an extremely HOT sausage. Tina took one small bite that she couldn't finish. It was difficult to determine which element was the hottest, but it was a very good heat and I enjoyed the sausage very much.Chase Field, Phoenix - June 29, 2011
I stumbled across a stand called Big Dawg. There was only one location and they served jumbo 12 inch hot dogs and bratwurst. They served jumbo dogs with regional toppings - a New York style, Chicago style, and what they called a Wisconsin Dog that was covered with macaroni and cheese and then sprinked with bacon bits. I ordered the Wisconsin Dog because it sounded so interesting and looked quite good on display. The mac and cheese looked, and tasted, just like Kraft Mac and Cheese from the box. Despite this the dog was very good. This offering gets high marks for originality alone, and if they would have given a little more time and effort to the macaroni and cheese, this could have been a perfect hot dog.
Angel Stadium, Anaheim - June 27, 2011
Mostly just generic concession stands, but there were a couple specialty stands from local restaurants. Out behind center field there was a barbecue stand that had a hot dog topped with brisket that they called a 'Skeeter.' This looked quite good as I love both hot dogs and brisket. The sandwich I received did not look quite as good as the model they had displayed at the stand - a little light on the brisket. The hot dog was large and was very tasty - more like a kielbasa or some sort of smoked sausage. Tina even thought the hot dog tasted very good. The brisket was also very good - quite tender and had a great tasting sauce. This was the best dog I have had so far.
Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles - June 25, 2011
There is pretty much only traditional food offerings at Dodger Stadium - hot dogs, peanuts, nachos... It is difficult to find anything other than a Dodger Dog, although they do have both Jumbo and then the standard Dodger Dog. I had a Jumbo Dodger Dog with onions, relish, and mustard. The hot dogs are boiled and then grilled - good tasting, but nothing spectacular.
Petco Park, San Diego - June 24, 2011
I decided to try the bacon wrapped Sonora hot-dog. It was a large, spicy sausage wrapped in bacon and then covered with onions, tomatoes, and pinto beans, served on a large roll. The bun would be too large for just the sausage, but with all the toppings it was OK. The sausage was spicy - more like a spicy Italian sausage than a Chorizo, and the bacon wrap added some excellent flavor. It was an interesting mixture of flavors and a good choice to try in San Diego.
AT&T Park, San Francisco - June 21, 2011
After some pre-game scouting, I had narrowed the sausage choices to three: the Sheboygan Bratwurst, a bacon wrapped hot dog available at a couple Mexican stands, and the San Francisco Hot Dog, which had melted Swiss, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing. I decided on the Sheboygan Brat since it looked the largest and most appealing as we toured all the food stands, even though we will be in Wisconsin and I could get a brat in Sheboygan WI if I wanted. I ordered the brat with extra kraut and grilled onions and then added some deli mustard. They have the kraut and onions mixed together on the grill at just the perfect proportion and it provides a great accompaniment to a very good sausage.
Oakland Coliseum - June 19, 2011
There was a good selection of food items, but the concession stand that caught my eye was the Saag Sausage stand. They offered Polish, Sweet Italian, Bratwurst, Linguica, Louisiana Hot Links, and possibly one or two other varieties. I couldn't decide so I took a Linguica and a Hot Link. They were served on large deli style buns with grilled peppers and onions and I added just some mustard. Both sausages were very spicy and very tasty. I couldn't tell which one was which but enjoyed both. I thought there was a little too much bun for the size of the sausage. In the concourse I also saw someone with what was called a Super Jumbo Chili Cheese Dog, which also looked very appealing.
